Acclimation
From ReefPedia
Acclimation is the key to a healthy start with any marine fish. I would recommend drip acclimating any new fish that will be introduced into the tank.
Drip Acclimation: Dripping water from your display, or destination tank into a smaller container where the fish is held. The drip helps the fish get use to the water levels of the display instead of the shock of dumping it in.
Tools:
Small container, Airline tubing, Small valve (if available)
Instructions:
1. You will need to acclimate your fish to the tank temperature by floating the bag in the display for 20~ minutes.
2. Gently pour the water and fish into your selected container (large enough to at least double the water volume that is initially poured in).
3. Secure the airline tubing, or other selected product, to a rock or something in the tank so the siphon doesn't break. Personally I rubberband the hose to a small rock.
4. Start the siphone, and tie a loose knot (unless you have a valve) in the airline tubing. Start dripping slowly and increase the drip rate of an hour to an hour and a half. After the two hour+ mark you should have double the water and probably notice your fish much more active.
5. Carefully place your fish in the destination tank and let it start getting accustomed to his new home!
If I have left something out I apologize and I hope someone will correct me on that.
