Physical Description
classic smoothhound appearance with medium gray coloration from nose to tail, the underbelly is whitish.
Distribution
Eastern Pacific Ocean - Northern California to Gulf of California.

Behavior
Species is very active, a fairly aggressive feeder, but generally mild tempered.
Feeding
Benthic invertebrates - shrimp, crab, and Squid, also small bony fishes.
Breeding
Known to be viviparous - has litters of about 4-16 pups. Pups are usually born at about 8-10 inches.
Social Structure
Known to form small schools, and can often be found near groups of leopard sharks or other smoothhound species.

Additional Notes
Often considered one of the better choices of swimming sharks among private aquarists. However when keeping this species it should be noted that a protective covering should be placed over the tank - to prevent the shark from jumping out. Also the ideal water temperature range for a gray smoothhound is about 59-72F (15-22C)
