Physical Description
A small species of Wobbegong covered in an intricate pattern dominated by eight dark irregular saddles edged with black lines. Saddles stand out against a light tan or grey background. Light brown and gray freckle-like blotches on and between saddles and on pectoral fins.
Distribution
Indo-Pacific Region - Indonesia, New Guinea, and Northeastern Australia.

Behavior
A ambush predator, often lays waiting for hours for prey to come by. But is known to be a very aggressive feeder.
Feeding
Feeds on small fishes, and benthic invertebrates.
Breeding
Known to be Ovoviviparous, pups are born at about 8 inches.

Additional Notes
This species has been confused until very recently with another species - the Banded or Gulf Wobbegong (Orectolobus halei) which grows to nearly 10 ft long, and is found in Southern Australian waters - from New South Wales to Western Australia.
